Bought a full car set of HiLo's a couple of months ago for the van, fitted the fronts a month or so ago and decided to get stuck into the rears this afternoon.
Got one fitted pretty easily, then picked up the other one and found this:
That's the cone end (i.e. not the ball joint end) of the alloy strut. The steel pin has been pressed in off-axis and it's cracked the alloy

Anyone else had this problem with brand new hilo's?
Needless to say I'll be on the phone to the supplier on Monday, but I'm a little concerned about fitting these at all now, I don't much like the idea of them failing under load on the car
