The Civic discs are actually 229mm (9.0") diameter, so should stop better than 8.4s...

I think Accord ones are the same diameter, just ventilated and wider.

what diameter do the spacers need to be made to? and what size is the inner hole? also when using 25mm spacers and the contessas, are flares needed?

I measured the Civic ones I'm doing now with a vernier the other day. 229mm (9.0").
What's 0.2" between friends...

Whatever, in 12" wheels, these should bloody well stop, with a servo too!

Gordie,
Spacers I make are 130-135mm O/D (depending on bar stock size), 25mm wide, I bore them to 74.0mm (same I/D as a Mini-S drum is) but this size is not critical.

Yes you will need flares with Contessas- I use the good old Innocenti (Mini Special) ones. Cheap & cheerful..

Animal, I'm leaving these discs 9" stock for the 12" wheels- as long as they fit inside the Performance mags OK.
<edit> If your brakes are that good I'd think about flinging the servo... save some weight!

Gordie, yes spacered drums are needed on the back, or it will look weird. Gp 2 arches are `about' the same width.

Ben,
This set is going on a 1098 Clubbie with 12" mags. No names, no pack drill.

I'm not really in the business of making up spacers etc- these ones are a favour I owe a friend.
My little lathe takes forever to turn them (it has a whole 0.5 HP...!) :x

Here's a pic of the caliper mounting brackets for 9" Honda Civic discs in 12" Performance mags.

I think they are gonna fit...

Image

Yeah I could lighten them a bit more..

<edit> Here's some dimensions:

For 10" wheels the cutout and the 2x 12.0mm holes would be approx 14mm closer to the big hole.

THESE DIMENSIONS ARE FOR 12" OR 13" WHEELS..

Plate size is 175mm high, x 145mm wide.
Distance from straight edge (bottom RH edge in pic) to centre of big hole is 70mm.

Big hole is 76.4mm, the 2x 12.0mm holes are at a 93mm radius from its centre, they are spaced 140mm apart.

The 3 small holes (8.5mm) were drilled using a `cut up' drum backplate as a template.
Careful- they are handed left & right- do it wrong and your calipers will be behind the disc.. or would, if no steering gear!.

Stack 2 plates together, tack weld and cut/drill them both in 1 go.

Material I used is AK1016 plate, 3.5mm thick ('coz I had some). You could just about fit 3/16" plate in there, but no thicker- unless you space the disc out from the drive flange.

<EDIT> Width of plate is 145mm (I had 160 shown but that was before trimming) 8)

Doc

I thought I read somewhere that 4mm plate was used.

Is that 14mm closer to the hole bit (for 10 inchers), closer in. So I just move the caliper closer into the centre?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. YOU are a true enthusiest.

Rupert

14mm is a guess- just turn the discs to 7.9", sit the caliper hard up against the front of swivel hub and measure it.

When I get time, I will make another bracket for 10" wheels and post dimensions, I just thought the 12" one I have here could be helpful to some people.

4mm or 3/16" plate would be better than 3.5, but I've already got this for free (from my last employer..) :)

Anyhow the Honda City ones I got from NZ only has 3.0mm ones, and they don't bend.
I will get them engineered when it goes for rego (soon!)

For 12" or 13" wheels, you could space the discs out by say 6mm, fit thick brackets and then make the outer spacers 19mm not 25, but if you do that with Contessa 10" wheels they will hit the caliper....
