(where my shoulder hit)

So... yeah, I guess im not so good on gravel roads, slid on a slight bend, reacted the wrong way, spun the car twice and landed in the embankment on the side of the road, backside on a bush, nose resting on edge of road front drivers side wheel sitting in lowest part of the ditch. Panel damage only, thankfully - front valance, front guard, drivers door, rear guard and flair and rear bumper damaged. Opened up two of my wheels, so was a mad dash to flag down someone with a suitable spare! obviously, thankfully, i was surrounded with the right type of cars and people.

it could have been a lot worse.

To those that were there, i give my sincerest thanks for your assistance, consolation and donations (of wheels, and wheel nuts!)

Again, the true colours show, and I was soon back on the road home - well, lunch first, though i couldnt really eat! :?

Priscilla is off to the panel shop tomorrow for an assessment, I have full comp insurance....

Is that what they said to you in the jail house showers? :P

Sorry to hear about the damage, at least you're ok and it looks fixable. 8)

don't forget to get the panel shop to include "realistic" amount to touch up the airbrushing.

I know you did that fantastic job yourself, but what would it cost someone else if they had to to pay to have it re-done on the repaired panels?

Noooooooo Trix , that's terrible . Hope it turns out ok though I don't like the look of the bent drivers door , was that from the hit at the front or was there another hit to the door ? At least the bonnet was ok with all the work to it .

I wasn't treating her rough :( yeah, believe me, I wasn't happy bout the gravel road... a freshly sealed road, it was meant to have been finished prior to us going up there. Sports, the drivers door was hit by my shoulder, thankfully only bent on the inside, looks worse I suppose because the door card popped out... my shoulder is ok, jarred my back but im ok.
Bubba, yeah, that definitely went through my mind, I figured lucky I came off the road bum first, because, the size of the ditch, may have been a different story if I went off sideways...
About the airbrushing getting repaired, well I didn't get the mural insured because I did it myself... I've always wished I had... now, well, I am going to have to discuss that with the repairers.
Thankyou all for your comments :)

Glad you are ok Trixi, which is most important :!:
 I didnt see the inside of the door at Omeo........wow :!:
That road was very slippery! very fine gravel. It was s'posed to be sealed by the time we went over it...........my mate in the moke was playing/steering with his hydraulic handbrake through a few corners, he hung onto the handbrake a little to long and it spat him off the road into the scrub but he was lucky there wasn't any embankments or gutter dug into the ground. He didn't do that again :!:

Other than this incident did you have a good weekend :?:

awww.... thats so sweet.... not sure what to say, but i am trying my best to feel ok about it at the moment... just not thinking about it helps :(

As for the van, I am more determined than ever to get it done now! So priscilla can stay pretty, and only go out on safer drives!

Scott, thankyou... yeah im sore and sorry but ok. I did have a great weekend otherwise... especially sat night dinner :D

Kevan, thankyou.

Now, I took priscilla to the panel shop this morning for the assessment.....

Came in at just under 5k of damage.......

Taking into account the usual overquoting of insurance jobs, and that its an estimate, but yeah.... fair whack. Car is insured for 10k

The dude at the shop was asking me about the airbrushing, I told him that it was me that did it, and he said that I need to make a quote for the cost of it to be done, by me, so that the insurer can pay me...... but, as I have said, I didnt get it insured specifically... so I dont know whats going to happen with that - I dont mind if I dont get paid, just as long as they allow me to go in there and do it.

Well good to see you are still alive and kicking - as will your 4 wheeled friend too.

Hope both of you come out of it better than ever!

Hooroo
