hi all, while stripping my mini out for all the hard work to begin I found this jack in the boot under some stuff. Not knowing a great deal of stuff about minis and their accessories, I was wanting to know what this might have been out of. Is it special, or just a standard piece? Is it even out of a mini?

Hi
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its a jack that was sold over the counter by various auto spares places during the sixties and seventies.

It is not make or model specific and it is a non hydraulic type (works on internal gears). Its that period's version of the now popular super crap hydraulic trolley jack.

Isn't a Moke one very similar? (not sure, my bitsa Moke came without one). :lol:

The good thing about that style of jack is that unlike a hydraulic jack (or the scissor type) once it's extended, it's pretty safe and can't collapse due to a leak or a stripped nut. Nice find 8)

I think some Mokes came out with that type of Jack. I remember reading an article about them. The other thing is ... we all wish we had one.

Pretty sure APAC was an Adelaide based co. that also made hydraulic jacks back in the 70's. No doubt yet another quality Oz engineering company that eventually succumbed to the oriental pay rates of $1 a day.......
