Hi all

I have recently purchased another mini and am currently doing a few adjustments / improvements to it to get it back on the road.

The problem that i am having is getting the doors adjusted tight enough so that they don't rattle and pull in tight enough up against the rubbers and sit flush more or less with the body line.

The shell is an 850 with wind up window doors fitted. It has the early style striker plates. These simply do not have enough slide adjustment inwards to get the door to shut tight.

Is this a common problem with this conversion, am i missing something here? All help and suggestions welcomed.

I have the same problem on my driver's side door. I too am missing the nylon giude below the strike plate. Is any adjustment possible?

It might be a case of adjusting how the door sits in relation to the car by adjusting the door hinges. There is quite a lot of adjustment in the hinges and can make a big difference to how they sit on the body and hence how much space there is between certain gaps that will cause rattle.

Apart from the obvious up and down adjustment, try moving the door slightly back (in relation to the car) so that the doors "jam" up against the striker just that little bit more. This may get rid of some vibration rattle as the door is tighter against the rubber on the B pillar... it's a matter of trial and error.

I cannot imagine that the striker will be so far off from the factory...

the plate isn't really adjustable (unless the screws are loose) i'd be looking at adjusting the door hinges, i did this to fix mine.

loosen off the hinges then close the door and push it around by rolling down the window and using the frame to adjust it, then climb in the other side and screw it back up
