hi there
he was not going to take it apart fully today, just empty it i think and backflush it and refil it. hopefully enough to tie us over until we get it done properly (can't be without the car at the moment so have to plan it well)

It may be annoying to do but I'd drain and flush it twice, letting the car idle for a bit with the heater on between drains.

If hubby is feeling bored, get him to check for leaks when there's no coolant in the system. The bottom water pipe on the inlet manifold is prone to corrosion I've found.
Doesn't hurt to keep an eye on it.

OK , hopefully it will be enough to solve the problem for now though it is a good chance to do it while it's out . Check with your radiator mob though , they may be able to do it today and you can have it back in this afternoon .

I had my radiator flushed and painted for $90 the other week, though there was no labour to remove it since I did it myself.

Sounds pretty expensive for a clean to me! As I said in my earlier post, to have it done properly with both tanks removed was only about $70...

exactly!! just spoke to him and he said he quoted high as he does not know how long it will take to get out.... last time he put a new thermostat in and that only cost me $80 including labour, coolant etc, so he is pretty reasonable.
2nd car has broken down too - Pajero needs a new TPS - $1400!!!!!!

hi there sounds a bit high in cost when you consider that mini places like us sell brand new 2 core high flow radiators with the sender for spi cars for $285, and standard spi aftermarket radiators for $180(no sender)
cheers josh
