Ausmini virtual Scrapheap Challenge meets Top Gear meets Dodgie Brothers Confuktions Co challenge .....
There are openings for 5 teams to take part in this challenge which will be run over the next couple of months (until we run out of challenges to set
) . Each team is to have at least 2 members and their vehicle is to be chosen and "prepared" using the following rules ,
All vehicles to be chosen from ebay or any other online advertising medium that either lists a buy it now price or an advertised final price .
YOU DO NOT BUY THE VEHICLE for this challenge/game , just nominate the vehicle and any modifications by quoting the link to it in your teams entry thread . The one vehicle must be used for the duration of the comp by your team .
Total advertised price of vehicle is not to exceed AU$1500 . You can choose a $750 vehicle and nominate the other $750 in upgrades (do not have to include fitting and tuning/anciliaries/odds and ends ) , for example a non turbo VL commodore for $750 and the turbo setup for a VL for $600 , a power figure will be used as per a standard VL turbo .
Vehicles must be in Australia but do not need to be registered .
Vehicles listing must state it's running and not list any major problems unless you can find another buy it now listing for the broken components and still be under the $1500 budget . For example a listing for a Falcon ute for $1000 with blown motor and another listing for a suitable motor for $500 .
A challenge will be posted each Monday evening and teams have till the following Friday evening to nominate modifications to their vehicle from classifieds or ebay buy it now listings to the value of Au $500
(YOU DO NOT BUY THE PARTS , just nominate them) for the upcoming challenge which will be judged over the weekend and points awarded Monday . All vehicles will magically return to the original specifications they started the competition with at the end of each challenge ready for the next lot of modifications for the following challenge .
Challenges will include a variety of events including drag racing , mud bogging , hill climb , rally , whatever we decide . Teams are advised to choose a vehicle that is adaptible to various forms of motorsport and not just tarmac racing . Teams are to explain what their modifications are and why they are doing them before the event .
Event winners will be decided by the moderators using vehicle specification (original power and weight figures and including performance upgrades) , traction/handling improvements , teams ingenuity in preparing for events . Results and explanations will be published but judges decisions are final .
Certain imaginary equipment will be supplied to all teams should an event require it (heavy duty towing hitch for tractor pull for example)
Challenge expected to run for 6 to 8 weeks , depending on how many events can be decided on , a request for event ideas will be posted soon .
There will be a trophy of some form for each member of the winning team .
