Doc, does a 1" & 5/16 socket fit the cam gear nut? I will have to buy one and it seems a bit bigger than 1" & 1/4. I rang CBC today but the reference number you gave meant nothing to them so I will take it in and show them.

Now let's get something straight....I ain't giving it to anyone of you good hearted people who have offered
My comment on their advantage in a Mini was prompted because in a mini the chain is so short I wonder about any advantage it may have except for noise. On other pommy cars which have long chains I can see a big advantage to using a belt. Sorry but all offers declined but I will have an all synch close ratio box for sale as soon as I can get it and the motor apart.

Main advantage of a belt in a Mini is- no it doesn't stretch (like Jap motor ones do) so the timing stays spot on. My ign timing hasn't changed in 18 months (Pulsar dizzy).
When I took mine off after 40,000 miles, it was still as tight as the new one I replaced it with.
It's no quieter really, unless your timing chain is hitting the cover..

Would that be a remote box by any chance?

Yes it is. As to a price I haven't decided. I need to cover the cost of buying a box and rebuilding it if necessary.

Chris, what sort of box do you need to buy? Big bearing rod change box? If so, maybe we can look at a swap? Steve

Doc, in my Karcraft cattledog they retail for 74.25. I wonder if CBC bearings can supply as they have a full dayco range. I will ring my mate the manager and let you know.

My cattledog is the latest, last month's.

Often wondered whether CBC-BSC etc could supply these. Gates makes them too. 8)

If you can get me a Gates Part no. T## or a Dayco one I can see if i can grab you one from work Kev

Alternatively, count the teath and width of the belt

Dave I posted it's ID above. 052R190. 52 teeth, 19mm wide.
Early pattern belt- bottoms of teeth are flat.
Made by Dayco, in Italy.
I think Gates or Pirelli belts use the same number.

Ill have to have a look kev....I'll check tomorrow. Ill have to search through the catalogue to find it
