look i know it is a hard thing to really say but what is the going rate to rebuild a 1275 all stock straight forward rebuild.

would things like new clutch plate & rebuild of gearbox be included or is this another thing?

if so? how much for a engine & gearbox rebuild?

is that with engine in the car or out? is it cheaper to drop it of to some one?

just a standard rebuild no special tuning work etc etc.

and has any one been stung by a dodge rebuild before?

3k drive in drive out for the whole thing. Inc head, Short motor, Gearbox and Diff. Thats a Std build, want fancy stuff, add more $
If Something is seriously stuffed add more $
You should be able to get a builder to give you a quote and work to it. Just make sure they call you if there is a need to deviate from the original quote. AND get EVERYTHING in writing....

Yeah, that what I,ll have for sure , fun and games building a warm 1100, one of the things is finding out what works with what and if it works really well how much does it cost, one of the things I have to find out is how well a Kent MD246 cam works with a 3.2.1 diff ratio and a 16 pound flywheel- the combination of a high lift short duration cam with a lower diff ratio and lighter flywheel. Interesting research before I shell out reddy's !

That's a whole lot cheaper than I thought it was. I was under the impression you were looking at more like $5000 for DIDO head, block, box rebuild. Where can it be done for such a low price? Any price difference for 998? Or 998 turned into 1098?

i can get a rebuilt engine from the Uk with postage for about $3500 to $3800

of ebay there are alot of companys that offer it or i could just re do mine.

i mean i could buy a new engine rebuilt for such a good price makes you wonder why get it done in Australia some times.

but 3k is not bad, one place said 3.5kish

If you do all the work yourself, 3K like Aaron said

If you pay someone to do the whole job,remove,rebuild,refit & tune engine any where up to 7K

Pros: it'll be red.
Cons: Take ages to arrive, hard to make warranty claim, risk of damage in transit, little assurance against poor quality components. Currency conversion means if same amount was spent out here you'd be better off.

Engine rebuilt in Australia
Pros: Supports local business, problems can be dealt with, quality assurance
Cons: Rover specific parts may be tricky and or expensive to obtain.

A joke you say, well two of the best mini engine rebuiders in Sydney say thats the price, at $77 a hour labour there's 10 or so hours in stripping & rebuilding a gearbox alone.

Go with your $3.500 price, cheap now might be very expensive in the long run.

yes 3.5 k 4k even I'm sure them other blokes are great at what they do but yes i would not pay 7k personally.

I've seen some mini places in syd sell engines around Australia for about 4k I'm sure of it.

The worst that your engine should need is a gasket set and a clean.

No insurance company is going to wear a $7000 engine recodition job when is is just has some water in it. It just needs a clean.
