Second thing you have commented on today that I concur with Morris. Quality not glitz (or should that be "bling").

is it for a race car?? we found a properly setup non adjustable bilstein crapped all over anything from gaz, spaz.. i mean spax and a few others that ive had on the car, you dont really need adjustable shockers

A certain Sydney based Nb racer who holds records at several tracks here and interstate sets his car up for each, primarily by adjusting the rear shocks. He runs with no rear sway bar.
I don't buy this argument the rear shocks can be left fixed...

i just find that i can adjust most issues out with other suspension parts before the shockers.. i suppose there isnt as much adjustability in a mini rear suspension setup so thats fair enough i wouldnt bother unless it was a race car though

Its is known that GAZ shocks dont work on a 944 !, so I'd love to hear how that transform to a Mini........

no need for the sarcasm, dont ask the question if you dont want different answers to the one you want... im giving you an opinion that is tested and not just a wow they look shiney they must be good.. how do they transfer from a 944 to a mini.. simple.. they both use shock absorbers..

It's going to be one of those ones where everyone has there personal preference...

Driving style and car set up will big influence on the overall result...

Going on a different tangent - the UK Mighty Mini series uses GAZ as the "control " shock.... may be a sponsorship thing - but I'm sure if they were useless the drivers would complain. http://www.mightyminis.co.uk/

Personally not yet tried the GAZ (on the shopping list) - had SPAX on the road car for years without complaint in that role and the odd track day.

i have spax on mine - but only because i got them DIRT CHEAP from a former member of this forum when he was in the midst of his disappearance act.

I have not used the car a great deal, but I had it set up by Greig Malaure at Mini Classic. He did not once comment about the brand of the shocks, but gave me a recommendation as a starting point for the adjustment. I set the adjusters to this and went at it.

First time out at Wakefield with his set up for the shakedown run on the car, I was 3 seconds off the pace of the Nb cars from the week before. Bearing in mind that I was on 2nd hand tyres from Greig (according to him and Graham Russel there are a good few seconds simply in a set of new tyres), I had never driven the track, I still can't drive a car fast or brake properly, the setup is not tuned properly, I do not run sway bars at either end, etc etc - who says spax are no good?

they work well for me.

cheers
michael
