 Post subject: hi sound in 2nd gear?

hey.

my dads rover cooper is making a whurrr sound in 2nd gear it is driving normally no shudder in 2nd or anything odd just that sound it seems odd.

what do you reckon that could be? something on it's way out?

wow what a helpful reply! i know second gear is one of the most used gears in the box and wears alot quicker usually.. not sure what it could be though, minis do usually make a bit of gearbox noise.

yeh. well it's been good. it's a 1989 John rover cooper & it flys!!

like i said it drives fine never had problems but maybe it is just a noisey 2nd gear.

in saying that it's louder then it was before :shock:

It`s more than likely comming from the Idler gear,,, pretty common for this ,,, & maybe the noise is actually there in every gear but more pronounced in 2nd yeah???
