Thats something rich to say when you own a clubman-style front.

And anyway, id like one of those as well, something very different.

Bullsh!t....I've seen your dad's Marcos and it looks nothing like that!!!  Last time I saw it it had a mattress on the roof, I think

THey're a gorgeous car though, but I'm with you when you say that the front of the Jem is nicer. Looks a little Aston-ish I think, and a little Aston is never a bad thing

The only time I saw it, it was in the back of the shed with stuff all over it and in a bit of a sad state.

What condition is your dad's in now Matt?

Does anyone know of a good one in Oz? worth a feature in TME? I'd love to do a follow-up to the Jem story we had in Issue 17.

By the way, does anyone realise that 2009 is the 50th anniversary of Marcos Cars?

They are having a big bash at Prescott Hillclimb in UK on 16 August - the day we will be at Mini In The Park (bugger! ) They are expecting the biggest assembly of Marcos cars, including Mini Marcos, ever seen.

Cheers,
Watto.

Watto,
Rodger Howard (Melbourne) is steaming ahead with his MK3 Marcos (preparing it for historic sb racing) Last pic I saw of it was at the body shop:

Image
(yeh, well it looks worse than it is) By the sound of it it should be very nice when it's done (The Cro-moly roll cage is a work of art in itself)
Henry draper also has a MK3 but it is in a fairly sad state apparently.
I'll be going (with Austin850) to NZ in November for a celebration of the Marcos 50th at the new 'Hampton Downs' track. There should be some nice cars: DeJoux, Kingfisher, Mini marcos's and Tim Neal's very nice MK2 Jem.

Matt: Your dad can get a windscreen from: http://www.minimarcos.org.uk/
They can box it up and post to Oz, so he has no excuse there

Here's another nice marcos currently being raced by Lars Kristian:

Oh, not surprisingly, I like the Jems better to

Tspeedjem,,, yeah here`s the e-mail response i got back from them yonks ago when i enquired
-------------------------------------------------
Dear Matt Read,

Thank you for your e-mail.

We can supply the following:

1 x Mini Marcos Windscreen £195.00
1 x Packing charge £200.00
1 x Shipping to Australia £240.00

TOTAL £635.00

The screens are available next day, please allow 10 days to have the screen packed, plus shipping time.

'O' well I can understand why you didn't get one then! Maybe you got them on a bad day or he made a mistake?
I got one from them for my Jem about a year or 2 ago: £125 + ~£25packing (Andy makes a plywood box up) plus around the same again for a courier (I organised myself). It came to around $700 all up I think (pound Vs Au wasn't as good then)
They have gone up to £160 pounds now. Still cheaper than getting moulds made.

Thanks Syd.

I had forgotten about Roger's, and Henry's.

Cheers,
Watto.

ha,,, Mick i`m betting they will be super annal about packing it up,,, & most probably all in layers of bubble wrap,,, then layers of cardboard ,,,& then in a massive wooden crate

I can "sort of" understand... But still over 600 quid is probably $1800 + ish,,, then i`m sure they will hit me with GST & brokerage fees & & & when it gets here on top of all that

so i`m totally expecting about $2000 for a bit of glass :-)
