as ive said in my members mini gallery thread, ive got a knocking noise when i take my foot off the throttle and an obvious feeling of something hitting too, im not really sure what it is but my first thought is the exhaust hitting the subframe or something like that.. are there any more common clonks that you get under decel in a mini apart from when you run up the back of someone

cheers

sean

ps. the engine steadies and mountsa are all attached, rubbers seem ok, i cant move the motor under my own power so im not sure..

I had exactly the same problem with mine, check the Nylon bushes on the top engine steady and see if theye cactus, or even the bottom one if you have one fitted, I replaced top and bottom on mine and its as good as gold, simple thing but annoying if you let it linger.

If you got a rod change then there is also a Bush at the back of the extension that sometimes gives that same sound.

Yea you probable right, I always get the 2 confused, does it move around when you grab hold of the rocker cover and shake the sh1t out of it. Could even be loose wheel nuts...

Yes.
How good are your engine mounts.....lower ones?
May need a lowere engine steady.....could be the exhaust mount at the front of the rear subframe
Lower control arm bush/s
castor rod bushes
cotton reel bushes......
Little bush on the top of the diff housing ....where the gearbox steady bar mounts.

Nah, the K doesn't need anything fixing  Although I was just out there fiddling with the RHR alignment, might have to take it back to Stuckey and get them to whack it on their magic machine again.. :D

i shook the brap out of it and it doesnt move.. but im weak as p!ss so that doesnt mean anything

its not loose wheel nuts, i make sure theyre tight after loosing a rear wheel the other day

its not a handling problem because it corners fine and doesnt lurch under braking etc

engine mounts seem to be ok, though they arent new so il probably need to replace them..

i had a lower engine steady on the race car and it was good, maybe i need one of them too

all the control arm, tie rod etch bushes are fine..

excuse my lack of knowledge but whats a cotton real bush?

Do you have one or two top engine steady bars? Are the bushes in good order? Is the radiator-side one's (if you have one) firewall bracket bolted down securely?

On a rod-change, these are the only things keeping the engine from rocking forwards and backwards with the throttle.. and any wear in there can allow enough movement that the exhaust knocks the tunnel or the gear stick housing.
