As the title says, my matic is slipping REALLY bad in all forwards gears. reverse is perfect. This is in 'lil egg' that I've just ALMOST got roadworthy. As in, its passed, but they won't write the roadworthy certificate until I fix the gearbox and they see it driving again. I took it out to the mechanic, on the way it stopped. Turns out the fuel pump was full of threading tape, and the fuel line had a leak. That being sorted, it now is tuned, timed etc and purring like a kitten. but if you put it in 1,2,3,4 or D it slips and carries on and never really 'takes hold' She will move just very very slowly to build up speed and she revs her head off the whole time. I know hardly anyone is willing to touch the auto boxes, so was calling out to anyone in ausmini land to throw me words of advice, names of people that will look at it and work on it. Failing that I have another engine and box (minus head) that isn't in a car that I could pull apart and try to check out myself as an engine transplant. Anyone out there have any words of wisdom?

The forward clutch is shagged.
It is an easy fix but you have to lift the motor out.
I did the one in my car in about 2.5 hours.

Do you have a book?

Take a look at http://www.austinamericausa.com/ and you will find this page... http://members.tripod.com/austin_america/id72.html and it gives a description of how to change the forward clutch.

Yeah they are easy, I have done a couple.
There is also an easy clutch mod to add a 3rd plate, see http://www.austinamericausa.com/ for details.
