Right going to possibly reboot my fresh dunlop alloys and wonder what people would recommend for both budget and balance!!

If you want good roadholding and reasonable life on a road car, Yokohama A008s. Grab em whenever they surface, some have been sighted lately.
Dunlop Formula Rs are allegedly better, but last way less.
A032Rs are better still but last even less, IMO their life is unacceptable on a road car.

i recommend bridgestone sf-226 for a mild roady, and
i havent used a008's but i have heard lots of good things about them.

dunlop formula R and advan ao32R are track/tarmac rally tyres and need warming up so would be a poor choice for a road car.

I don't go past bridgestone SF226's -

anyone who says they're no good on the road is trying to drive illegally

wasnt there a sticky somewhere around here that listed a good few brands and rated them in terms of price, longevity, handling in wet and dry etc etc??

I loved them in a 145 12" and will run them on the road in 165 10" when I get new tyres for the van.

Good honest tyre.

I had them on Barney. Not bad when new, but when they get a bit hard they are worse in the wet.
Don't hang on like A008s...
Falken Fk07Es? I ran them for years. Not too bad in the dry, but pretty hopeless in the wet. HARD rubber.
I went to A008s to get dry traction with my 1310, Excels used to beat me off at the lights.

I'm with Dr Mini on his responces. I'v had 226, Formular R's and now on A008s which I'm on now and the price of the A008's the are also between them both. Falkens I want touch when one of our Team did a 360 in the wet infront of me. No he wasnt being silly eather and I was on 226's

I'd recomened A008's for price grip and wear

ive just done 4500 kms no bridgestones, got a screw in one, put some tyre weld in and its done at least 1000kms since being screwed and is still on the car. Great on the highway.

Got some a few months ago and the Bridgestone price was about $88 a tyre (actually got them finally through a contact at another tyre place and paid $65)

Worth checking the date on them so they aren't old stock. All mine were late 2008 and were made in Indonesia.

Im running Advan 032's only used them for approx 15kms in competition, found them great, but cant give any detail on longevity. Minisplus has them the cheapest @$160 a tyre.
The above replace the Advan 008's which came with the car, and had a build date of 1998 or something like that, although still handled well with there age.
