Putting back in the distributor and thought there may be an O ring or seal on the shaft. Couldn't find one and may have not had one when taken out. Some diagrams I have found indicate there should be O ring or seal somewhere on the shaft.

Does this look correct?

Looks right to me. No spot there for an O-ring, so don't sweat it.

Looks as if the scolloped out bit just under the bracket might be for an 'O' ring?

No they never had one there. That spot under the flange is to break the dizzy flange if you overtighten the clamp or have a prang. Lucas `planned obsolescence...'
