For those people that have bought things from the US and the UK how long has it taken for the package to turn up?

UK - fastest 3 days !

But more usually about a week...
a lot depends on how quickly packed and sent....
(and where you are)

Uk normal post 10 working days is the norm unless it is courier, then I get it around 3-4 days.

Similar from the US, although it may be a little longer. Anywhere up to 2 weeks  and it's usually expensive to boot. Not everything is bigger and better out of the US it seems....

If you get a Corby to deliver it can take years

Depends on what day something is sent out, I ordered something a week ago from the UK and according to the tracking info, it was still there on tuesday. Yesterday its in france, today it's in china and is due for delivery tomorrow.

I once got a book sent from the East Coast of the USA.
The options were..
Express air courier for $24 with 3-7 days delivery.
or..
Via Ship $7 with 30-45 days delivery.
Being a cheapskate I opted for the $7 option and it arrived 6 days later!

That is about what I thought. I might have a more serious look at some of the matchbox minis that are for sale on ebay from the UK

I never get anything sent anywhere via sea mail. Once was bad enough having to wait three and a half months.
Air mail all the way for me.
:D

Everytime Ive ordered its taken 4-6 days which depended on when the weekend fell...... DHL UPS are all about the same time. Very efficient and the Net allows for very good tracking of the consignment....

I've had stuff arrive from England faster than from Sydney.
Regular parcel delivery in Australia has become dismal. Express Post has become what we used to get from regular parcel and Platinum Parcel has become guaranteed next day delivery

I have had quite a few fights with Australia Post over their Express Post service. :x

I used to work for a courier company. One day I had to pick up 6 pallets of empty cardboard boxes in Goulburn at 4pm and they had to be in Brisbane by 10am the next day (at a cost!) It is easy for a courier company. A semi picked them up from Goulburn and got them to Bankstown by 7pm. They were then put onto a plane with all the other express freight.

But try getting an Express Post bag from Goulburn to Sydney the next day.

Any wonder all the important stuff is done by couriers.

Ever claimed the guarantee on an Express Post bag? :x I have done it twice. Whoopee they give you a free Express Post bag for losing the one that had the important documents in it.

I ordered some stuff from Canada, there was 2 postage options $50 air mail or $20 surface mail.

Quote ebay seller

"I have shipped the following item to you. Please allow 8-13 weeks for delivery via surface post (travels by boat and camel)"

lol
