Just measure it up and find a replacement on the bolt rack from auto stores or coventries/blackwoods/bunnings.

It's 5/16th UNF by 1.75" (might be 2" long, but I'm unsure how deep the threaded hole is. Anyways, 1.75 should suffice)

The thread is about 1"ish long into the block.

Ok, 2" will be fine or even 2.25" as the top engine mount uses 1.25" of the bolt's shank.

I would stick to 2" however for a safety margin.

I'm 90% sure its 2" Long as I had to replace mine after stripping the thread in the head and got it taped out to the next size up. I actualy got three differant length and went with the one that fitted best. I stgill have the other two to check but my vernias and rule are at work so can't check till tomorrow

Sure, but there is no need.
They are normal bolts.

Was it UNF?

Did you take the mount away from the side of the block to test the thread out first?

When you take the bolt out, the engine "springs" forward or back a little making the bolt difficult to start. You have to test the thread is fine first, and then lean on the block to get the hole in the right place to start the bolt.

Don't try and buy Mini bolts at Bunnings!!!! :x If they had a 5/16" bolt the right length, it would be Whitworth thread.

The bolt you need is 5/16" UNF x 2" long, as said above.
Supercrap, Autobarn etc have them in packs of 5, if you can't find elsewhere.

Nooooooo, Metric don't fit Minis either... but kids still try.

tch tch...

If you don't know the thread type you may as well have gone looking for a D shackle instead. It's important.

Take a look at the thread on the bolt from engine mount where it bolts onto the firewall. Take it with you to the bolt store and match the thread size. Make it a two inch long version and you have a wiener.
