I wonder if they will base it on the cabrio, hard cover over rear seats and call it a 2 seater sports?

If it's as hard core as the initial report stated, it will need a rigid shell and lightweight which is unlikely to be provided by a cabrio body.

I hope they build this rather than the Crossover, which is as attractive as a bucket of bums...

Then again, I wish they'd find build a brand around a new concept rather than stealing history.

I too don't mind the photoshop image... :) Or otherwise, a Monaco-style fastback would look ok, too. But it would be a 2 seater, no way you'd get kids in the back.

I'm not hugely keen on the Clubman (I don't mind it), but, I figure that the Clubman Van was probably the most iconic version. Sure, there was the GT, in Australia the LS, the GTS in SA... But the thing that makes people think Clubman - especially in the UK - is the van. And so the Clubman being the BINI Wagon sort of works... Though Traveller would've been better.

They might be German, and missing the mark, but at least they're having a go.

That's what I reckon. I think in a lot of ways they've missed the mark, and they are definitely doing it for the wrong reasons according to enthusiasts(solely as away of making money, and not in any was as a true tribute to the mini), but they are [accidentally] bringing back the enthusiasm of the old mini lovers, and sparking a new love of the classic minis in others. Regardless of whether or not the car itself sucks, or whether it's ugly as sin, it is doing some good.

Can you still buy Deutschmarks? our have they gone Euros??

Thats a big call Chow...I would like to see a poll of how many classic enthusiasts have been "inspired" by the new marketing exercise for a german company (don't mention the war!)

Cush that is some Brilliant photoshopping The second lot of pictures you did with the hatchback looking rear is more like what BMW will come up with going by there past experience, i think.

I have agree in having a strong dislike towards BMW. It is all marketing, they are only interested in cashing in on a past hero. They care none for its heritage.

As a car i think they look great, but the the way they have gone about it and used the mini name to make a few bob, i think is not too great

And as said already the original broadspeeds were for racing BMW is interested in a few bucks, not its racing image.

the way i see it, and some will disagree with me is that BMW is draging the mini icon through the mud.

My 20c worth on how i feel :)
