reversing the polarity sounds like something from ghostbusters to me for some reason.

And you should swap the coil primary leads around too. Otherwise electrical folklore says the coil will give less voltage.

Another good reason to swap the coil leads. :wink: Found this out the hard way myself a couple of months ago - I was the 'future owner'.
