how far off are they?
ive used a screw driver(or similar) if they are close and try move it down that way.
or using jacks on either side of the motor and lift/lower till you can get said screwdriver through the holes and then lower the engine.

are you using mounts with the nuts attached?

3?

there are only 2 on each side - put the mounts on the motor, then drop the motor in

There are some dodgy mounts available - some are too thick, though I've never encountered them. I buy the normal ones and weld nuts on

I fiddled with my gearbox tonight

Nah there is definately three on each side, not sure why your's may have 2 (is your's a 1275?), there are 3 on each side, two at the top, and one evil one at the bottom, which is near impossible to even get your hand to!
The motor is still partially attached to the engine lifter, so lifting and jacking one side has all been attempted, the problem is the rubber engine mount moves with the motor as you try to wiggle it.

Can't seem to get enough room for a screw driver to do that unforutnately.

That's what Simon was saying, there's three bolts to attach the mount to the engine, and there's two bolts to attach the mount to the chassis.

Its easier to attach the mount to the engine first, and then attach the engine and mount to the chassis.

Got my A Panels (thanks 64cooper!) and thought about cutting stuff up, realised it was too late and the neighbours wouldn't like the noise at 10pm. Thought about poking at the wiper motor, but it looked too fiddly. Then sat around wondering how I'm going to get the subframes out by myself with a jack, a few blocks of wood and only two hands. Ho-hum...guess I'll be reading more of Gregory's lil book tonight.

easily done! you could do it one handed

put stands under the bottom of the inner wheel arches, support the subframe with the jack, undo all the bolts and lower it :)

Ah yes,

There are 2 bolts through from the engine mount to the subframe. I was attempting to bolt the engine onto the engine mount which was already bolted onto the subframe. This should be HEAPS easier, I hope...

Cheers guys.

Blew more holes in the door frame sill trying to repair the damage I did on Monday. Decided the inside bottom of the door won't be seen once the skin is on and the pocket liner is in so will spot weld through the holes to a small piece of angle I'll make up then grind off the face bit that will be between the frame and the skin leaving the patch over the hole on the inside.

Hi Jonesy, I start with the 2 front bolts in each engine mount then I line up the second hole with a Philips screw driver. I then install each of the rear 2 screws from inside/ the engine side of the sub frame so the nuts go on the outside. My fat fingers will not fit on the inside.
A small trick I use for the rear engine mount bolts is to use a medium size flat blade screw driver and put a very small amount of silastic on one face of the head. I then stick the head of the bolt to the screw driver head with the silastic. I wait 10 -15 minutes for the silastic to set a bit then I then crawl under the car and maneuver the bolt on the end of the crew driver into the hole and put the washer and nut on the outside. been doing it for years and it now only takes me about 10 minutes to install all of the 4 bolts and nuts.
Good Luck
