Well after a few weeks of tinkering I finally got the engine off the gearbox and out of the car. I couldn't believe how heavy the engine is in comparison to how small it is (no block & tackle or engine hoist).
I had the head tidied up at the start of the year, now time for the bottom end.

I'm going to get the full engine rebuild kit +040", and possiblly a re13 cam. Should it get a different carby for this or will the standard 1 1/4"su suffice?

HAHAH - you must be f*cking strong to even think about it - just the gearbox on it's own is heavy enough for me

tip for you - next time, if you can't lift the motor, think about lifting the body off the subframe instead



no, it won't suffice - you need a 1 1/2" at least

Who's doing the work, and what are the $$ if you don't mind me asking?? ANd who did the head?? Cost?? Are you going to do the box too, or just the block?

I'm in the same area, and thinking about the same.

Yep I would get a 1 1/2 I also have a RE13 in a 1100+60 but went even bigger carb which is a HIF44 and the head is a 202 but skimmed alot. What head are you using

I haven't decided on who to do the work, maybe Repower, I'm going to speak to some people at work and see who they recommend. Rebuild kit costs around $480-500, not sure on the cam maybe $150. Budgeting around $1000
for the boring, and rebuild, hopefully thats enough.

Repower did the head that cost about $600.

Not doing the gearbox, seems fine at the moment, just going to check for any damage to teeth, and clean all the sludge from the bottom.



Head is a 12G202

i would do the box while it`s off,,, it`s not much more to do while you`re there, but plenty more if you have to do it in a few months

I won`t re-build any engine unless we do the entire power unit as a whole

it`s just common sense

yes, having a new top end, and a slightly reco bottom end, only ends in hassles when yer second gear starts to crunch.
