still sounds like a lot of hearsay to be honest. ill be looking for a set of tyres towards the end of the year

Here's the original reply from Yokohama:

Yokohama Germany wrote:

Something like: "at present [the 165/70-R10 A008] has[!] no 'class C1 sound marking' following Eu directive ECE-R 117. Which says that all tyres up to a width of 185 without sound marking may not be sold [legaly] after octobre 2009. We will apply the sound marking [to the A008] in the midterm and be able to continue to sell it. Kind regards, Sabine Stiller, Yokohama BlaBlaBla".

The big question is: what means 'midterm'...?

Cheers,
Jan

Mate, getting on hear and saying you got tyres for $100 each will get people riled and asking question. then you come back and say, well i get trade. think about it. NO ONE wants to know your luckier than them.
Call them and get a price that the rest of us pay and then get a deal for the forum, that would be a much more constructive thing to do......

ok if u got those tyres at $100 each... it is possible yes cause at one stage i was able to get it for $110 each.. ask a couple of members on here that bought some from me. but now they are worth at wholesale price ur looking at around $145 a tyre no joke.

if u got them recently for $100 a tyre u have bought old stock, and i can say that with confidence cause the same thing happens at work. before tyre prices went up in feb if he got a dunlop say at $110 and sold it for say $125.. then whole sale prices went up to $120 a tyre and now selling retail at $145.

i could still sell u the dunlop that i got in the shop before the price hike at $125 cause technically im not losing money HOWEVER u are getting old stock.

I have to disagree. I would quite like to hear in depth, with no details spared, about Jake Wall being luckier than I am.

I decided to investigate a bit and Bob Jane at Bondi Junction yesterday had some available. The guy called his supplier and was told that 6 tyres were left and then "that's it for a while". I ordered 3 of those and they should arrive today (dont know why 3, maybe it just seemed fair to take only half of the tyres available). They just offered to order them for me without a deposit or anything, at $125 fitted (which is still more than the $105 fitted I paid a couple of years back).
I don't really need them as I've got a set ordered from Europe sitting in a mate's container at customs right now and I should be getting it in a few days. So if anyone wants those 3 tyres or any more if BJane can still get them, you can pm me and I'll send you the order reference - you'll have to pick them up from Bob Jane bondi, who will do the fitting etc. and you'll be paying them.

Hi guys,
I am happy to pay a good price for a decent but practical 10" tyre. Could the Dunlop D93J meet this criteria or is it more a track tyre? Here in NZ, the only road tyre that seems to be available now is a Bridgestone S226 and it looks like pretty average. I'd like to hear your opinions.

Regards
Al

The Dunlops are a good road/track tyre, but they wear at a quickish rate.

Having a set at the moment I would argue that the Dunlop D93J wear a bit quick for the road to justify the $, my 2c.

This was posted in the UK Mini forum today:

Quote:
165/70R10 72H A008 : e4-0246063-S

The new legislation has caused some disruption with the run down of existing stocks of this tyre
New stock is in production at the moment and should be with us around Q4 of 2009.

Now that the A008 tyre in this size has this e4 marking, supplies of this tyre should be available for the foreseeable future.

I hope this helps to clear up the situation for your forum readers.
