Scorcher are put together by Performance Ignition Services in Melbourne and use easy to replace Bosch parts. They're supposed to very good - I've used them in Rover V8s and they work well. The Rover ones are $600 now, not sure what A series cost but it would be much less than the 123.

Just purchases a Scorcher from Performance ign systems, Full custom curve made to engine spec, Complete drop in unit including "dizzy drive" set of custom length leads, and suitable Coil for about $450-500. and best of all, Its all Bosch internals and module and they give you a spec sheet on the Dizzy with the Bosch part numbers incase you need a replacement Cap Button or module..... And order Friday Lunch time, Picked Up Monday afternoon......... There service was excellent...

29D are crap, I'd use a 45D.
If you want electronic, just put a Pertronix or noname module in it.

just want to query why your against a 29d in relation to a 45d, i currently have a 45d in the 1100, took out a 29d, i have a couple of 29d's now to rebuild into reco 29d.

Besides the vaccum advance which the 45d doesnt have, i had it locked in the 29d (and the bleed on the carby has been closed). They almost look the same, have the same holes where moisture gets in and basically do the same job.

Also, i have electronic module in 45d, can i transfer that into the 29d casing.

45D's are supposed to have Vacuum Advance. A 45D with mechanical advance is really a 43D.

Um i have a 45D in the car, and no vacuum advance, no hole for a vacuum, and 45D stamped on the body of the dizzy.

but still, why 45 over a 29.

Which coil do Performance Ignitions recommend for use with the Scorcher? I've got a non ballast MSD Blaster 2 sitting around somewhere...

Only because on all the 29Ds I've seen lately, the advance mechanism is worn out and the shaft bush worn too. They are an older dizzy.
45Ds seem to last better, is all.
