hi everyone

I have only got a little over 9v at he voltage stabilizer so my oil light etc wont work.

My battery has 12.5v

I am assuming its a bad earth does anyone know where the earth point for that particular circuit is?

any other help will be appreciated.

The oil light does not run through the voltage stabilisor.

The voltage stabilisor is on the feed to the gauges. The gauges need a lower voltage without dips and peaks. The voltage into the voltage stabilisor is straight from the battery so is ~12.5 to 14 v and the voltage out of the voltage stabilisor is about 9v.

(or I could be totally wrong)

10 volts is what is supposed to come out of the stabilizer but I have less than that going into the stabilizer(should be 12 volts)

I havent had a chance to prove my alternator yet because I havent had the car on the road yet. All the other electrics work just those within the dash... but there is power...just not enough..

I have done a search and some reading but am still miffed...

ok,

I found a blown fuse so I now have an alternator light that comes on and goes off once the engine starts.

I still have no oil light , I put my multimeter on oil sender and there was 12 volts there. I tested the back of the dash panel and there was no power at the oil light.

The temp gauge wont work still, I tested the brass screws behind the temp gauge in the dash and there was no power there either.

I tested the three prongs on the stabilizer and the had, 12 v 10v earth so theres nothing wrong there.

I joined the rear loom earth to the neg side of the battery in case it was a bad earth problem but to no avail.

I also fiddled with the earth in the engine bay.

Does the alternator light use the same power source as the temp and oil gauges?

It turned out to be

An earth problem

A broken 10v feed wire

A blown fuse

Possibly but less likely a broken voltage stabilizer

God I hate my mini some days
