For mainly Mini use - what are the advantage/ disadvantages of a 7" angle grinder over a 4" - comes with a buffer pad and autobalance so apart from the polishing bits what else?

If you're looking at buying a buffer/polisher (for paint) they run at a lower speed and should also be variable in speed. If you're just looking at buying angle grinders then the 4 inch will get into tighter spaces whereas the bigger grinder will be able to cut through bigger items faster.

Hey David , hang the expence just buy a couple of 4" grinders and a buffing tools aswell. Your missus can just add them to the garage sale when you are dead. :D Do not tell her how much they cost, she will think she has a bargain!!!!

Yep, you can never have too many tools.

Just buy a cheap 4" grinder and a cheap 7" buffer/grinder.
As said, the buffer should have variable speed.
Make sure it comes with nuts for cutting AND grinding discs.
The 4" will get in tight places, and with a cutting disc on the 7" you will be able to cut right through stuff that the 4" won't do.

I have both, good quality ones.
The 7" is fun cos it's big and powerful and slows right down for polishing. But i cant find the thin megaline disks for it.
The 4" is good for access and the megaline disks cut faster than the 7" can.

Megaline disks cost more, last longer, make less waste and are good on alu and plastic too, but they break easier.

Or is it because theres no warranty?

grays is an auction house, they are all second hand, or seconds.

you bid or buy, and generally you get a grays warranty which when i bought computer parts through them was 28 days.

Go to the actual auctions instead of doing it online, MUCH cheaper again. and you get the thrill of doing the bidding too with your white card like on TV :D :D

wow, sounds even better, cheaper tools than an employee discount at bunnings. Can someone tell me where the nearest auction house is to the northside if brisbane?
Cheers,
Joe

You need to watch for their "Traditional" Auctions list, heres one they are having in QLD soon, its for building supplies and whitegoods.

Sometimes they are for Computers, other times Hardware and Tools.

For instance we ended up buying a pallet of 17inch Monitors cheaper than one guy bought two. You could probably pickup one of those $2000 fridges for around $800.

We just bought a Kleenmaid clothes dryer via Grays for less than half price, no warranty as it's the receivers liquidating the assets, so you take the risk sometimes. Fingers crossed.

Grays are currently clearing GMC stock in one day sales ( GMC went bust) It is all brand new stock - no warranty. I figure "cheap enough who cares" I ended up paying $74 for the grinder. The clearance has been running for over a month now and people are getting wise to it and prices are edging up - You can still pick up a hand push mower for $9 though
