Maybe 4th gear is stuffed... It`s the input gear & drives all the other gears, but it`s not used when it`s actualy in 4th gear,,, funny enough

Well just a quick update, I haven't stopped running around, sorting this drama out.

Well for now I have worked 24/7 getting my other mini on the road, haven't stopped working on it since 4pm yesterday, all through the nite Just got to finalise a few more things and its ready. Got my CTP, and drove it home this afeo (ran like a charm ) Safety Cert 2morrow morning, and then off to rego for the afeo. Then all I have to do is service it 2morrow nite, check it all out, pack my bags, and I'm ready for our holiday to Byron Cassie booked for us. That's if everything goes to plan

As for the other mini (Bluey) I had to take her doors off, to use on this other mini, but her hinges needed re pinning anyway, so that can be done while the doors are on this other mini. Then once I get back from Byron, I will replace her doors, and put the proper ones that belong to this mini on. I also have found another gbox lying around, nice good diff in it, etc etc, and in great condition from what I can see. So once I get back from byron I will pull the motor out of Bluey, do a few things and swap the box's ova, put the engine back in and off I go again:P All going well by the start of next month I will have 2 mini's on the road, and running beautifully

As for Bluey's original engine that blew on me a couple of months ago, I'd say by Mid next month I will start stripping it, and be doing a complete rebuild at 120tho going to be awesome, but risky, but yea, going to be a good good motor, and should hav her running and back in Bluey just before the muster

Well thats my plan anyway. It all depends on how much time Cassie pinches from me, But yea, all going well I should be on time with my schedule

Does anyone dought I won't be able to stick to it? (me being the busy boy I am) lol

I agree, and if so I'm 1/2 right, as the big gear it meshes with on the cluster will be knackered too.

Well well well, guys. I have finally found some time to pull the engine apart the other day, and well it was the cluster layshaft's shaft that had come out and was not allowing the cluster to line up properly with the main shaft. The clip holding the shaft on the other end, was broken. So the shaft came out as far as it could until it was stopped by the clutch side housing. Nasty stuff, cos if it could have gone any further, well i rekon on the highway while i was doing 100km I could've come to a very sudden and abrout stop. I'm glad I didn't drive it to Byron like I was thinking to, luckily got the other mini going in time for that

yeah will do. Though there isan't much left of the bit that broke, lol it mustive got munched up in the box. I am just in brisbane at my other house, and the motor is at my parents house on the Goldie , haha. So when I go back this weekend to put the motor back together I will take pics for those to drewl at, lol.

The layshaft is a weakness in many gearboxes. The holden M21 is a classic for it as well. The boys in their 308 utes who light up their tyres in first gear simply dont see just how much the layshaft flexes under that load until it just suddenly lets go.
