Just picked up a new 620 CCA battery and it came with a breather.

What's it for?
Should I use it? It's currently plugged but not sure If I need to provide a vent to get the best life out of the battery.

Did a web search but all I get is info for jetskis. :?

If its a sealed battery you should fit as it needs to vent out gas when charging as it may swell up, just chack if its vented some where else. If its a dry battery dont wory about it. But i have seen unvented batteries aswell, just ask the supplier you bought it off? :)

Don't think Kmart staff will be that knowledgeable.

I'm pretty sure they are to vent the gasses to the atmosphere if it is mounted in the cabin of a car and are not needed if they are in an engine bay. But would consider fitting it to the mini just to be sure.

They might even be a drain, not a vent. I had a battery with a clear hose coming off a little red round thing. The replacement battery had what appeared to be the same little red round thing but no hose.
