Just picked up a new 620 CCA battery and it came with a breather.

What's it for?
Should I use it? It's currently plugged but not sure If I need to provide a vent to get the best life out of the battery.

Did a web search but all I get is info for jetskis.

If its a sealed battery you should fit as it needs to vent out gas when charging as it may swell up, just chack if its vented some where else. If its a dry battery dont wory about it. But i have seen unvented batteries aswell, just ask the supplier you bought it off?

Don't think Kmart staff will be that knowledgeable.

I'm pretty sure they are to vent the gasses to the atmosphere if it is mounted in the cabin of a car and are not needed if they are in an engine bay. But would consider fitting it to the mini just to be sure.

They might even be a drain, not a vent. I had a battery with a clear hose coming off a little red round thing. The replacement battery had what appeared to be the same little red round thing but no hose.
