I bought some of these for my MINI with a sreamin demon ignition. The guts of it is they shorted out against all manner of stuff in the engine bay. It missed and farted and carried on. Put stock stuff back on and it drove perfect again.

Dont know about a mini but they were a complete rip off for a MINI.

I think Vizard recommends the HotWires in his big yellow book. Interesting that they're still available..

They are just plug leads. It is not rocket science. Plug leads will not make more power, but bad ones will cost power.

If you want really good plug leads see Graham Russell. Or you can just buy leads from your local parts store. I bet you will not be able to feel the difference.

But they said "More Power",,, so it must be true

i wonder if people would notice how cool they look "Under" all my plastic crap on the lexus V8 engine in the kombi,,, maybe i could rock up to a VW show,,, proceed to spend the hour or so needed to un bolt & rip out all the plastic covers & crap, just to show them off,,,, then i can say that "Obviously" i have more power,,, just look at them, you`ll "SEE" the extra power :-)

I must admit tho,,, they do "LOOK" pretty cool :-)

I agree, but the principle that these leads work on seems to me to be pretty sound. They incorporate a capacitor which stores the incoming energy until the electric field across the plug gap ionises the air, then the capacitor dumps that energy fast across that gap. In theory, this should produce a fatter spark, for a shorter period of time.

IIRC Vizard suggests that this fat short-duration spark induces a bigger 'bang' which would in turn develop more power.. theoretically.

I've got no experience with these myself, but since reading about them I've been curious as the theory seems to make sense. I agree for a road car there's likely to be bugger all difference, but I would think every HP would be sought after on a race engine..

Do they run these plug leads on F1 engines? No? I didn't think so. They are just another WOFTAM.
