What did I do to my mini today? Well, I ripped out the whole front subframe with all the suspension components and wheels attached. Noticed the engine went missing long before I got it.

That's right, new (ish) member, first mini, first post. Let the nightmare begin.

I got my MkII shell mounted on the rotisserie I have just finished.

Work on it is sporadic, but now I can make some progress. Still wondering about whether to paint it myself, or if I can afford a painter to do it properly. Leaning towards a proper job, but I want some subtle graphics, so I'll need to get it priced first.

I had a tin of blue Hammerite-knock off cheapo paint for Supercheap which I couldn't think of another use for. Horrible stuff and no indication of the colour I want. I need to touch up the lower brace under the shell as you can see where I did a rush job painting it.

Went and got a new clutch plate and seal. Going in tomorrow, maybe.

I wanted 2 bearing buddies for the boat trailer.
$38/pr approx at Supercrap. Exact same thing at Bias Boating Warehouse, $24.95.
Never believe that SC is cheapest, shop around.
/end rant

I put the vans interior back in tonight.
Last night I started to track down why the fuel gauge wasn't working.
I unplugged the wire from the tank and connected 12v to it and checked each plug back to the fuse. I narrowed the fault down to where the wires run up and over the passenger door. After removing the head lining I found that the motor trimmer had put a screw straight though the wire harness where it runs down the back of the door.
All the wires needed to be repaired with three being totally severed.(two were not in use)

Over the last few days dropped front end down and removed body from sub-frame / engine due to an issue with sub frame. Now that its all apart everything that could cause me grief later will be replaced. New subframe and parts organised and the tidy up clean up process begins tonight.
And to think a week ago I was all excited about driving Mini K on the 50th Birthday day.....oh well at least now I know she'll be in great shape for the 51st Birthday celebrations.

Put my new dialback timing light on, and set the total timing advance. It was at 34°, now is 38° where it should be (according to a previous dyno session). It's hauling ass again.
This 1360 motor has a `racy' cam and a `chrysler hemi' head shape, so don't go this far with a normal head or you'll have problems.
