The 9" diff is actually quite easy to break. I broke the one in my F100 a couple of times.
I suppose a 351 would have a bit more torque than a datto.

you will probably find that a hilux or rodeo diff will
be as stong if not stonger then a 9 inch (in standardform)
cause of the axel splines and you would get alot of
LSD's cheap with good range of ratio's too

mmm so a bit of a dissapointing update....
I got a phone call from the car that had my car at the moment, and they were fitting the hydraulics and going to finish up the panel work and customising. The land lord that owned the buliding they were in has sold it and they have to move shop... So I have had to move the van out from there and tow it to a mates house where it will sit for however long
I have been in Brisbane for a year and a hlaf now and my van has always remained in Sydney, would be nice to find a shop up here that will take on such a project and do it well

Hope it all works out mate.

So it is/was luck that I needed, or mabey it was that I went on holidays to Sydney and thought I'd stay an extra week and pop in and see how the van is doing at the panel shop... I went in on last Monday and quickly established that the van needs to be bead blasted again, not only that but nearly everthing else is completly rusted. So I spent alot of time at the beaters takeing everything out of the van so it can be blasted again... This is the end result of "no way am I leaving over 10k worth if gear with dickheads ever again"
ohh and just so people know I went on holidays to sydney to put and air conditioner in for the mother in law. So in the back of the ute I have all the tools nescessary for that plus everythin that was in the van besides the rear subframe and wheels ohh and the exhaust wouldn't fit... Needless to say I needed every bit of the 240hp the ute is putting out for the drive home today. And it was very back heavy, it actually sits slightly higher in the rear usually

Image

And I'll get some pics up tomorrow of how crap everythin now is... The fron subframe looks to be the worst...

Not good news but hopefully it's only surface rust :x so is it staying down in Syd till the body is finished or are you still trying to get it up to Bris asap?
