What do people in Northern NSW (mid north coast to northern Rivers region) think about forming a proper , incorporated mini club ? I know the NSWMCC has a branch in the Newcastlish area but that is still 4 or more hours drive from here . I was thinking a "proper" club with the hope of getting club plates as well and not like the former Lismore , Grafton and Coff's mini groups that were informal , not insured and without club plates . Are there enough people interested ?

The first thing you need is a committee. President, treasurer, secretary etc. This was the thing that we found hardest with Minis In The Gong. Even with over thirty locals interested in the club, getting people to fill these positions would have been impossible (we can't even get people to help organise events) similarly if you are asking people to pay to join there needs to be something that they receive for their money, for example a magazine etc. We struggle to get enough donations to keep our website running (domain and re-direction costs). Then you need to make sure that the money etc is handled properly. People will complain about the way things are done but won't offer to help.

I don't mean to put a dampener on this, but it is a huge commitment and will take up a hell of a lot of your time, but if there is one person who can do it, its probably you Ian.

I hear ya Ryan , I've been involved in various clubs and organisations over the years to know how it all works (everyone wants the fun and benefits but only 20% do the work and the boring stuff) . The last car club I was in had a great scheme where whoever didn't turn up to the AGM was likely to get a commitee job

I have no drama's taking on a role (or two) in the committee and knowing Jason he would be the same . Just a matter of finding some extra bods to share it around . I'll make a note up to put on the cars at the car show in Coffs in a couple of weeks as there are a fair few mini people locally .

The car club that I joined (all makes) has only 17 people and they like it that way. Everyone sits together so there is no little CLICKS. It was initation only and you go to the meeting as a visitor if they didn't like you they didn't ask you back it may sound cruel but they came from clubs that ended up being about the peoples egos not the cars I think they needed 4 or 6 cars to be put on club plates with an inspection station doing the 1st 2 years then the club can do it themselves
