Hi there, my name is Tom and I recently purchased a 65 deluxe. It requires a full restoration. There are many parts missing and I am trying to find out what the origional specs are, eg I believe the doors are wind up windows?. What shape the bumpers? etc etc. Are there any publications available which will list the specs? My experiences with minis has been many years ago and were only with the 850 sliding windows. Would appreciate any help. thanks

Hi Tom,

What i would go for to cover all your questions is a workshop manual, preferably the red one.

Hi Tom , welcome to Ausmini . It might pay to put your location (as vague as you want) in your profile as anyone in your area with a deluxe might be able to show you there's and compare notes . I'm not sure if "The Mini Experience" has covered the deluxe yet , I'll have a look through mine later (or Watto , the editor/owner of the mini experience) should be on later and will fill in the gaps . Since the Deluxe was an Australian only model you won't find much help on foreign sites but there will be plenty here . Put some photo's of your's up when you get a chance and people will be abel to guide you with what you need .
Ian

Hi thanks for your replys. currently the car is in little bits and pieces with the majority of the body in primer.the doors that came with the car are sliding windows and the boot lid I am told is from an early 850 (long number plate flap). The seller said the doors and boot lid were not origional. The whole thing is a big jigsaw puzzle. The only thing that spurs me on is that the body is in fairly good condition. The motor is an 850 not the origional.

A bit odd, I've heard of plenty of 850's fitted with later wind up doors and boots, but the other way is odd?

Unless they were going for the English S Appendix J look?!

Hi Thanks for the reply. I am really debating what to do at the moment ,as ,it will take some work to get the car back to original specs. It currently has sliding window doors ,I believe that the correct doors should be wind ups?.
Thanks tom

Just quickly, the Mini De Luxe was featured in Issue 2 of The Mini Experience.

Back issues only available on CD (in PDF format), or PM me if you only want the De Luxe feature.

Cheers,
Watto.
