Garage sales and auctions is where i have got my best tools

Also retiring engineers and mechanics are a great source, if the tool has lasted 30 years or so then it will last me a life time. Most good mechanics look after there tools and but good tools in teh first place

My best buy was a churchil hydro flywheel puller. ($20.00) The old guy i brought from got it when he finished his aprentership he was 75 when i brought it and i have had it at least 15 years.

I arrived in my Riley Elf spent a few hours going through his tool box which he was happy about) and to see his tools going to some one who would use them and look after them and knew what they where.

I also have rule i never lend my tools, but you can bring the car to me or i will bring the tool to you and use it to help you out. That way no tears, no broken tools or lost tools.

Have made some good friends as well

Mine is a Sykes Pickavant, I bought it a zillion years ago and it still works. Even after I butchered the jaws a bit to do Valiant balljoints years ago, then welded them back to size.

I was looking at a Sykes Pickavant one on ebay and it looks good.
My local Auto1 store looked through his Tridon catalogue and couldn't find one but said that if I wanted a good one he would be able to find one for me. (how rare is that these days!)

Ok - removed all 4 ball joints and steering rod ends...AND...the tool is the same as when I bought it. :D

I did apply molybendium paste to threads and pin top when I got it just to make sure the threads didn't bind.

Fiendishly cunning those orientals... :D

AND...I just bought a folding 1000kg engine lifter today for $299 in MALS. How can they make stuff this cheap?!

Hardest bit was sneaking it in the shed so the wife didn't see it (and it can in two big boxes). She even came in when I was mid engine lift and she didn't even notice it! And it's bright bloody red! Brilliant.... 8)

All good...
