hey hey hey 500 ml is 500 ml

Na, I was actually told about that by John at Mini King when I was asking him about the exact same thing for my LS. He actually pointed out that in some of the later ones that the pump was inside and that it took up enough room to be worth mentioning? Thats why I was saying that someone might know more about it.

has anyone actually pulled one out and had a look? I have no idea how big they are.

only the size of a small injection pump. dont forget the extra fuel the return line holds. :P

No its a special Traveller only tank, you can sort of make it out in this photo. The capacity is higher than either the van or standard saloon tank, but I can't remember what it is exactly. My book is at home.

Despite everything you read about trying to standardise parts across the range and re-using stuff out of the parts bin. The tank, fuel cap and rubber grommet around the neck are all unique.

For the love of getting anywhere on one tank! I wish the vans had an option for a bigger tank than the 27lt rectangle :( I cant say im keen on sticking a traveler tank in the back of me van as Im pretty sure I dont taste that good when im crispy. At one point I was thinking of something like a rectangular plastic tank in the rear sub frame boxed section *on the opposite side of the exhaust* but just about everything I have seen nas a huge fill hole on the top. Would this be possible? like in series before the fuel pump? Or would it take forever and a day to fill.

The export Mokes had a sprite/midget tank in the rear subframe instead of the side, you'd need to modify things to have a filler for it though, probably on the opposite side so you had two filler caps like a Cooper S!

Don't worry about fitting an internal Traveller tank, they are rarer than hen's toothbrushes. Do you reckon internal tanked Travellers are much worse than sedans? Ok, the sedan does have it in the boot, but that's only separated from the interior of the car by a piece of cardboard and some seat foam.

yes, but there is not very much space inside the pump.

but i don't care if i loose less than 1 liter in capacity with that in-tank pump, i use it where ever i can

I found my book, apparently the early Travellers were 6.5 gallons or 29.55 litres. It also says 5.5 gal (25L) for the saloon and and 6 gal (27.28L) for the van (that was in 1961), so sounds about right.
