Took a couple ( or 4 ) short lengths of brake line bundy with fittings up to the local Midas shop to get the ends flared with the little onion type flare.

They had done some for me before but this time caused a bit of concern - the boss goes out the back and brings his old worker in for me to explain what I wanted and he shakes his head and says he is not sure he can do it and won't guarantee the result as their equipment is designed for copper pipe as that is all they use now and mine is steel and may not work. WTF !

Anyway waiting for the phone call to go and collect them

Australian Design Regulations forbid the use of copper for brake lines
Has this changed in the last year?

I know the Poms always use copper (to prevent salt corrosion) so I think the cracking of copper lines is not suck a big issue, but hadn't heard that the rules have changed.

He's probably meaning cupro nickel pipe, it has a yellow sheen.
It is great stuff, way better than steel.
If it IS copper they are using, find another shop..

This is very strange are they now changed over to Chinese machines and carn't work with steal or that the old worker has had a brain fade. I have a full set of copper brake pipes for the van that I know I can't use (purchased well before I knew better)
I think their has been a communication problem some where

Went to pick them up - not done said he broke his machine trying (no sign of any attempt anywhere) Guess I'll try somewhere else and never take anysort of work to Midas again.

find a proper brake and clutch shop. I dont think i would take anything to midas.

If your in brisbane theres a shop called Brake and Clutch between the two car yards on Ipswich Road near the gabba. They are awesome, and can get ANY brake and clutch part you need.
