I bought a full set of guages today and am going to build a works replica type drivers instrument panel to mount all the guages in.

bought, oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, volt and ammeter. i will mount my origoanl smiths tacho in the panel also.

also bought a mountney leather polished steering wheel. arrives monday cant wait!

does anyone have some good diagrams, pics or measurements of this panel?

building a period car rather works replica but heavily influenced by them

The fun with the works cars was each was hand built and constantly evolving....
.. so lots of different layouts....

Genuine works mini LRX828E. I have lots more photos but i cant find them at the minute & there 35mm prints so ill have to scan them. I have the measurements to make the boxs too.

In the last photo why is there an overflow tank in the passenger footwell???

No idea, it's not my car, can only guess they either didn't have anywhere to fit it or they wanted to be able to access it in a hurry? It is an original old rally car I think.

The last photo looks like Simon Youngs Works replica mini. The overflow bottle was fitted inside the car cos there was no room for it under the bonnet.

I picked my instrument panels up from Simon at British Sporting cars last week . Beautifully made He is also able to supply other replica parts from body, subframe and upholstery Worth talking to him if you are serious
Does anyojne know the Lucas part No for the fuse boxes in the panel below the navagessers side?

Ask Simon! Im sure he would know. I belive they were fitted to Triumphs & Rovers. The Relays were fitted to lots of BMC/Leyland cars, I have heaps of them out of P76s.

Awesome guys, thank you very much for your help here. Greatly appreciated. That was exactly the info and pics i needed. I have a close freind in the RAAF and he is going to make a panel to my specs out of the same stuff they use in F111's.

I will post some pics once it is completed in a few weeks.
