My 12/1970 K with burst proof doors has the factory mounts for rear seat belts.

I'm pretty sure rear belts came in with ADR1 on Jan 1, 1971. Your December 1970 car would have had the mounts as they would have been included in production for cars in preparation for the rule change.

Mini's are great cars dont get me wrong but not in a hot climate. The engines run warm in summer. There are no luxuries like Aircon. The Vinyl Seats get mega hot when left in the sun. There noisy. Minis are a great car to have in the garage and go for a nice drive through the hills on the weekend. As far as driving them daily you need to be a real enthusiast or drive a rover mini with an Aircon

That's crap....plenty of people drive morris, austin or Leyland minis as daily drivers.

As for them being loud......people go out and buy a brand new car and then fit a stupid exhaust on it for the sole purpose of it being loud. I don't think sound should be a negative.

Oh, and this is my third summer using Linus as a daily driver, and it is regularly getting over 35 degrees here, and it is only november.

Hey most of my driving is freeway in the summer in +30degrees at 100kph and it stays cool, even when it gets bumper to bumper. I made sure the cooling system was 100% at rebuild and I added a heater core as an auxiliary radiator. 82 C in winter and about 93 C in summer without a hiccup. I don't personally have an issue with not having aircon an open window does me just fine. I tend to drive it less in the winter, more for the point that the vast majority of Perth drivers are useless and I don't want one spearing into the back of me on wet roads.

Just another point, it has been said a few times in various posts, but do not put inertia reel seat belts in the front seats as a replacement for the original lap sash belts as the B pillars are not reinforced to take the extra load that inertias transfer.

With any car you need to make sure that all systems are running well, as long as you keep on top of things and service regularly and replace components in a timely manner you will be fine.

One thing that I would fit is electronic ignition, I have it on my daily and I must say the convienience of not having to worry about points is great.

Take your time, and find the best one you can and, of course, put the pics up.

What a load of rubbish, IMHO. I've daily-driven a Mini for most of my adult life, and I've never EVER had major cooling problems, even through the 47º hot spell we had in Melbourne in February this year.

Set up and maintained properly, a Mini is just as reliable in hot weather as any other car.

On the oil cooler point, personally I have never found once necessary for a road car. In fact, I currently have fitted a hot (88º) thermostat in order to raise my oil temperature, as I found that my driving patterns caused problems with oil quality due to combustion by-products not being boiled out of the oil. That's my daily drive though.. if you do longer trips regularly you're unlikely to have this problem.

It's all good guys. I can handle range of views. Everyone has their own requirements for comfort level, reliability, cost etc. Mine, for comfort, are fairly low (you should see the heap of s... I'm driving now - and no, I will not post a photo of that). Appreciate all your comments.

well after the 43 day in adelaide the other day (in november) My car ran hot. I have a brand new radiator running a good quality coolant. Dont bullshit me that a mini wont run warm when sitting in bumper to bumper traffic in 43 degrees. The overall design is not especially suited to Australia with a side mounted radiator. Im all for the people who want to sit there sweating there nuts off (Bits for the ladies) at the traffic lights but anyone who has a job that has to wear a uniform a mini is not really a suitable daily drive.

The only part of my 1360 Mini that gets hot when it's 40C+ is ME...
I've driven it as a daily for the last 14 years. But it's a bit like grandfather's axe- it's had a couple of heads and 3 motors in that time.
