Hey guys,

Curious to the ways people have combined the two Metro hoses into a single hose to fit the mini???

Just buy the 2into1 hose kit made for the job. They are available off the shelf in braided for cheaper than anything you could get made up.

i understand about buying the hoses,

but i would prefer a joining block, i have also heard about drilling through the calipers to join the fluid channels. any thoughts?

An engineer would probably have something to say. A hose looks tidier and can be moved to fit the other parts around. And getting a joining block machined would be a bit of a pain.

For many years we used to use the same type of "T" piece that`s attached to the baulk head for the std mini brake pipes (front to rear) & fit one "T" piece on each caliper, & make up 4x (2x per caplier) short bent brake pipes to suit

we mounted the "T" pieces to the small deflector plates that were bolted onto the same caliper mountin bolts,,, they`re just little wiggly flat plate looking things that came with all the early metro calipers,,,, Fit the hose to the "T" piece, drill a hole into the wiggly/flat deflector plates, bolt the "T" piece on, fit the 2x brake pipes, tighten it all up & bleed the whole system

easy-peasy & cheap as chips

But these days i just use the Goodridge stainless braided hoses,,, just simpler & less time consuming & look smart too :-)

I`m obviously just getting lazy in my old age :-)

I used to recondition Metro 4 piston callipers at NMP. To get around the stupid twisted braded hose set up the poms use we drilled between the ports with a 1/8 drill. We blocked the second hole with a bleed nipple and had hoses made up with angled fittings so it all looked tidy. It worked very well. We even used the set up on BDs sports sedan, that car won a lot of races.

hi i have these metro turbo ap calipers on my car.
I too at first asked link automotive how the calipers were running both sides of the caliper when i was using only a single hose..
they modified the caliper..by drilling into the other cylinder..and puting a blank bolt into were the other hose would go..

ive since upgraded to the proper hose kit...but i ran a single line for over three years and had no problems.
brakes were always great...sometiimes too good...

photos will tell the story..

my gues is that they will work just the same as the old setup but at least this way they are back to the way they were intended to be..

Have you got different calipers left to right?

What master cylinder do you run and do you have a booster if I can ask?
trying to work out best setup for my metros.
:D

ahhh i was finding a sneaky place to put the hole through the channels.
think i found one now...

well it does look very neat although i dont like the extra braided hose.

well i second to know did you require to upgrade your master cylinder and did you have a brake booster while running the metros?

hmmm questions..ill do the best i can.

my two calipers are a bit different...one runs a spacer and the other dosent...there both ap and the same size...was told some came with a spacer and some diddnt..so i gues ive got one of each...in the photos you can see one has spacer in the middle and one dosent....

i nerver ran a booster..theses brakes were allways great....yes ..you had too push the pedel to make them work...but not much effort.sometimes they worked too well so i had to be carefull when in the wet....as for brake master cylinder used...to be honest im not sure what type was on my last mini....it had a cycle cyliner on the top...plastic....

photo below of brake master cylinder used ...if this helps..

There a two types of 4 piston metro calliper, the early type had a spacer fitted when they went from solid to vented discs. The later type did away with the spacer & the 2 halves of the calliper are wider.

interesting....i learn something new every day...
i knew i had one of each....someone did tell me once it was because they needed to be wider to work on the larger vented disc....and then after they just made it one piece but the same width.....
