I think I am getting there. I have cut the guards off near the screen about a inch off cut & they don't fit too bad now I will reshape & weld that piece in again hopefully not shaggining the guard with the heat. Don't rubbish me for buying after market. Just wondering if anyone else has & any fitting tips

hi gbsmini, I'm gonna tackle the same problem with my lil grunt after xmas. Unfortunately, I'm no panel beater, so I cant really help with tips.
Except to say that if its in your shed, do it safely, and do it any way you see fit. No one is gonna see you do it, except for you! (no one around to point fingers and say "thats the wrong method"!)
I'm big on distortion control, so go slow young man! :D
As far as after maket bits and pieces, go for your life. I am!!
If anyone gives you any lip about it, tell em to bugger off!!
Its your car, and its your choice!
best of luck.
