I have some solid slitted rotors for my car. Just trying to work out which way they go on.

My own logic tells me that its the way in which the slot touches the pad closer to the axle first, some brake manufacturers say the same, but then you get other brake makers and people fitting them the other way.
Is there any logical reasons for running them one way and not the other or is at all just a heap of crap: run them any way I want it makes no difference.

Thanks.
:D

I liken these slots to those in a centrifugal pump impeller, where the inner part of the slot leads the outer.
This gives some airflow outwards, to cool the rotor and carry dust outwards.
If you look inside any ventilated rotor they are generally made like this.

Buy yeah I have seen slotted ones fitted wrong too. I guess if you buy a pair and know no better you only have a 50/50 chance of getting it right, hey.

That's my logic exactly, and that's how I'd fit them (I also think they look better turning that way not that I'd see from inside the car!).

If anyone knows a better reason for going the other though I'd like to hear it! :D
