AUB is an SU part number, not BMC. A Google on AUB611 shows the following:

I've been searching pretty hard on that part number 13H1640 in several parts books now and I have not yet found a reference. Can anyone confirm if that is the correct P/N?

The PUB1056M book lists the 13H1640 as Rivet-Nylon-Special but it is not included in the diagram.
The next part listed under it is the breather tube.

Also the book says that the vent and rivet (and that model pump) were used on car YKG2S2 811 onwards. So the first 310 cars had the same pump as some 850s.

I've got a picture of one of these oddball grommets as removed from an S, if only I can find it...

If only you can find what, the S or the grommet or the picture?

It appears MGB's had a similar setup. Look at the narrative about Breather Pipes on page 170 of this publication which explains the reasoning for the vent:

... and the Sprite and Midget as well. I wonder if they used the same part as the S, perhaps with a different part number? Anyone got an MGB or Spridget parts manual?

... and another article about SU fuel pump vents (I'm going to stop now - if you want more just Google like I did):

So, leaving aside the current feeding frenzy by the S originality buffs..
What was the real reason for venting it to the cabin? Underwater rallying?

I ran these same SU electric pumps back in the `60s in rallies and on the road, no remote piped breather, and no problems... :?

What "type" of su fuel pump used the breather ? I'm digging through an australian printed su fuel systems manual but can't find any mention of it yet .

The second reference refers to the pipe passing into the boot into a t-piece to stop it pulling back out. The grommet I am looking through my collection for actually fitted to the end of the breather pipe from the pump, and also clipped through the hole into the cabin. So it seems they did the same thing but a little differently. I'm with you however, there were so many BMC cars using the BMC pump that it must have been a solution that was used elsewhere as well.

Justed looked at the 850 it is 1/64 on wiper and definitely a cooper s type pump and breather and the other 850 was the same as this one as I kept pump and breather then sold the car

Early 850s had the PD pump, they changed to the AUF one (1963 approx?) because the PD wasn't real reliable. Or, repairable either.
I used to have to stop and give mine a swift kick on occasions when it failed to proceed.
