How do you guys cope with anything lower than a 3.44 on your highways???

Badly.
Back when they were building cars with low final drive ratios there was no freeways in Australia. Most Minis were sold to people that drove in suburbia and they wanted a car that drove like most cars of the day. Back then most drivers would get into top gear and stay there. (there was not many traffic lights either!) If you needed to change back a gear to go up a hill it was a sure sign that the car was useless!
Taller diffs came with better roads and better drivers. :D

My Morris 1100 with its 4.26 is not suited for freeway driving. It is great around town though!
When I do my engine for it there will be a 3.64 or 3.44. The Morris 1100 has taller tyres than a Mini.

lol lol....

i like the 3.1 i'm starting to really like it alot, i was zipping around today on the highway. hit about 125 big ones on the highway, sus out on 12inch wheels what it would sound like if i was running a 3.44diff.

it's pretty loud lol..

a shorter 3.4 or 3.6 would be wicked but i don't think it would work for my kinda of driving..

one of them 5 speed mini box's would be cool must check my lotto hehe.

3.4 1 to 4th
5th is a 3.1 drive ratio.

does not take alot of power though it, more for a cruiser.
