Hi all, am having a problem with my clubman. Its a 74, stock standard. For some reason, the number plate lights, dash illumination lights and front and rear park lights have stopped working. I have had a play with a test light and found that there is plenty of power at the fuse box, and the light switch (both in park spot and in headlight spot) have swapped the light switch which didn't help, all fuses are functioning and even the headlights themselves are working. Now i know I have a break in a wire somewhere, just thought someone with more knowledge may be able to tell me where to roughly continue looking before I pull the electrical system completely apart. All the globes are functioning (tested on another mini) but there is no power at any of the problem globe holder-in-erers. Hope that makes sense.. Am scratching my head.. any help, advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers! :)

I had exactly the same thing.
Check in the boot that the wire to the number plate light isn't shorted out (it was on mine).
There was an inline fuse under the dash on my clubbie that took ages to find.
We replaced that & it was all good.

scrap that, just bothered to do a proper search on ausmini. Thankyou Sports850, your previous advice on checking for the inline fuse behind the carby was correct. Mine had melted. Fixed that, and it all works. Thanks again!

I wonder why it blew. Check you didn't do what I did. I had the 2 numberplate wires plugged in arse about in the boot (black paint on the wires). When the paint wore off the flap hinges, I got a dead short- so it burned out the red wire to the back of the car.

I just read your initial post and thought "yep , it's another one"

I think this hidden fuse is the clubbie right of passage , you don't know your car till you've been caught by the damn thing ...

Could have something to do with the fact it had a 5amp fuse in it, and a 5amp in the acutal fuse block as well... it only stopped when i had the heaters, wipers, lights and blinker on... then when I hit the brake pedal, she all stopped.. :D :D
