Thanks for the kind welcome! I will see if the picture uploads or not. So far on my Mini K New wheel well, battery box and rear valance have been fitted as they were rusted out. New door skins on both sides as hey were full of bog! New inner and outer A panels on both sides, due to more bog! New outer sills and front floor pans for both sides (rusty).
New front wings (or guards whatever you call them), new bonnet and front apron have also been stitched together.
The rear wheel tubs were removed and I've tubbed it out to neatly fit 13x7's, a few other things have been done and a whole lot more is due to be done aswell.
The current jobs are to fit the front flares including cutting the front guards, and think about getting an A+ gearbox reco kit.

Welcome Andrew, heaps of good info here. The work you have done on your 70 K is very similar to what I did on my 70 K 10 - 12 years ago, new boot floor, rear valance, both sills, both front floors, both A panels, RHF guard, cut wheel arches front & back for 13 x 6's, full alloy roll cage. Was lucky enough to find 2 new doors and also fitted a removable steel front.

We have a small band of local mini nuts, nothing organised like a club but do go on runs every few months. We are about due for another run, might wait for the rain to slow down tho

Who is doing your panel work? What will be the colour?

Hey Steve, thanks for the welcome! Geez the work I have done is very similar to what you've done isnt it!! Id be interested to see your mini and the way you have gone about doing the front end and the wheel cut outs. Good score with the new doors! You would be hard up finding that these days.
Im keen on catching up for a small meet or mini run sometime, I have not been on a mini run in years! I miss it too, the small convoy of bricks terrorising the roads with every one google eyed at the cars!
With my Mini K im doing all the major panel work, cut and shuts, replacing panels, skins ect, but i will not be doing the final body work to prepare it for paint. I think it is a wise decision to get a pro to finish it off. The colour im going for is a dark blue roof, and Arctic white body, with possibly a grey interior. Dunno about engine colour yet. WHen I was down at Summernats 23 a few weeks ago I was in the House of Kolor stall and found a really nice spin off of the colours I have already, It was a dark blue with a bit of silver pearl through it and the same with the white. So when paint time comes I will see how i still feel about the scheme of things.
The engine colour is going to be a big one. Because of the flip front the engine and super charger will be in full view and demand alot of attention from the rest of the car, so not a too bright colour for the engine is planned, mabie just mabie grey would look ok. With the standard chrome bits splashed over the A+ should look the part.

Still a little while to go yet. That pic above that I posted is one of the latest, although I have the doors on now.

Hi all, I'm Pete from Sydney and got my first mini, a '64 van, in July last year. Have already done a bit of work on it (including a sweet new box thanks to Greig at Mini Classic) and have gradually been sourcing parts for a full resto in the not too distant future (just need to get my garage built first). Have already learnt a lot from the forum and look forward to picking up lots more.

My name is Deniz...its pronounced like Denis just spelled funny. I live in the states and have been into minis for 12 years. I now own an 67' Australian Mini van that's about to be restored. The body is going to look stock but I'm building a BMW k head turbo setup for it with help from Matt hopefully..... It is neat to see all the small differences in the aus mini vs the uk models. I'm sure I will have loads of questions for you guys....

It begs the question. How does an Aussie Mini van get to the States?

Hello everyone,

Have had my A+ bog standard 88 Mini for over a year now and am gradually doing bits and pieces to it to turn it into a better drive. It's had a new steering rack and dizzy already, next to come will be a gear tweak. Originally it had been a Jap-import so had a bit of a saga to get it rego'd down here in NSW. Seems they don't trust QLD engineers!

I have some not-so-grand plans, so hopefully I'll be able to decide what to do next rather than just reacting to what the Mini decides is next!

If anyone has any advice re: gear slippage I'll be happy to hear it over the next few months.

Hi, is it an auto or a manual?

Hi, it's a manual - seems hell bent on slipping into neutral from second when decelerating or when at low speeds. Means I have to hold the stick in there going round corners or roundabouts generally. Makes for an exciting life, would still be keen to fix it though! Cheers.

Ahhh, that is not "slipping". That is "jumping out of gear".
Almost time for a gearbox rebuild.

Yes, I suppose I should say "jumping"! Have been postponing the gearbox strip down for a while now. One fine day soon when I need my fitness reassessed I will get its guts out!
