just getting a bit nostalgic and was wondering who ended up with my first mini, located somewhere in victoria is a 1978 white mini clubman, the rego plate read RLK 065, last i saw it the owner who bought it off me ended up putting it on ebay because he was going overseas to america.
it was a awesome mini, its brown vinyl interior was perfect, didnt have any rust in it.
i've got heaps of storys about it, when i bought it the drivers door was dinged up pretty bad, my father and i went to pick a part in kilsyth and found a red door off a red mini clubman van which we fitted to the car, i never got round to resraying it to match the car but i think the next owner did, i met my wife to be at the time, took her out on our first date, i quickly walked her away from my red door diverting her attention away from my embarrassing red door
while driving i would put my arm up across the top sill so she didnt notice it, and it actually worked, she didnt notice my car had a red door for one whole year
it was great, she always wanted a mini but her dad wouldnt let her have one, and to rub salt in her wounds, one time her dad went out to help her find a new car, he calls her from fowles auctions and says
"guess what im standing in front of?"
she replies "a mini?
"yep"
"what color is it?"
"red with a white roof.... and it says something like cooper s on the boot"
"dad i want it, how much is it"
"$400......nah you dont want this car, its too cheap and doesnt have air conditioning...we'll get a corolla"
so who has my baby? anyone else want to track down their first car?
