I admire someone who puts braking efficiency above interior design. I could have had a lovely set of vented disks, alloy KAD rear arms, Superfins and enough left over for a set of beautiful Clubman seats but SWMBO wanted new carpet throughout...

You can sleep in a car, but you can't drive a house.

If that statement wasn't so convincing, I'd be a richer man...

dont forget about the brake limiting valve on the rear subframe
I think they may have different spring rates for different wheel cylinder sizes

Yes there were a few different ones, here's the list from my Leyland black book:

850 early 250-300psi, late 450psi (including 850van)
998 deluxe 370psi to car 12117, then 390psi
Mini Minor 450psi to car 2317, then390psi
Minimatic, Moke & van 390psi
998 Cooper 450psi
997 Cooper 250-300psi early models, 390psi late
1098 1100 saloon & vans, BMC moke, 1098 Clubman 390psi
1275 Cooper S, & Clubman GT 370psi to car 1322, then 390psi
1275 Moke 390psi

So the vast majority from mid 60s on are all 390psi.

Ok Awesome, so I dare say Ive got the right one fitted then, I put a kit through it about 8yrs ago, but Im pretty sure it just consisted of a piston and seal, the original spring was used.

There was also a NHS one set at 310 psi......
