65 morris 1100 with remote change 4 spd box.
when taking off in first, soft medium or hard, there is a grinding sound comming from the floor at my feet. it has been gradually getting worse and worse and today the trip to and from work was quite interesting.
every now and again it jumps out of first gear with a bang, but most of the time it is fine and doesnt grind or anything. i have been thinking the engine mounts or engine steady bar are at fault but after a few good inspections of these, they seem fine.
the sound is similar to the engine hitting on the firewall or exhaust hitting the floor and creating a vibration grinding sound. i have checked the exhaust system aswell and it is quite away from the floor at all points.
what else could be causing this sound?
i have been mentioning recently about the bad oil leaks the engine and box has, and have decided tonight that i will embark on an engine out job in the next few weeks and do all the leaks in one go and clean it all up.
i would like to put my finger on the grinding so i can rectify this aswell.
I plan on having a good look this weekend under the car but i do have to drive to and from work all of this week so i am praying nothing goes wrong
Any suggestions? could it be the outpit shaft bearings.
