Wow. I'm glad you came out alive, with only the injuries you have. Rest up and I'm sure you will be fighting fit and ready to skin your knuckles on a mini fanblade again soon enough.

Reading through the first bit before seeing the pictures had me thinking your Mini had been horribly squished but it doesn't look too bad. I've seen worse.

When my dad was in his youth him and my uncle were out driving and someone T-boned them, threw my uncle out of the passengers door onto the road and my dad held on so tight that he crushed the steering wheel. Now that was a write off... Oh they both lived to drive Minis another day..

Rest up, I'm sure there are plenty of people more than willing to give you a hand. If I lived over there I'd come help in a flash.

Sorry to hear about that lockie. Don't let Today tonight or ACA contact you, they'll probably blame the P-plater!

I hope you get the car swapped over pretty quickly. Get well soon

You'r alive and on the mend that's the main thing - speedy recovery mate.

As for the car - it's fixable - Had a similar rear ender in my first car in my youth - back seat was touching the drivers seat - and I drove it home  :? but it was fixed but that was in the 60's and the car was worth more than now I guess.

damn - dickheads..... but rest up, take your time and make sure your neck and back are fixed properly

I can't believe the other driver was doing 70 - there is really not that much damage. I'd be getting it measured up and you might need it stretched a little bit on the left hand side, but I bet it's still straighter than a lot of cars on the road. If it's classed as a 'repairable write off' then I say have a go at fixing it, at least enough to keep it as a runabout hack

will be interesting to see photos of the firewall where your feet bent it

simion, sorry to say but thats a laugh. There is no way its fixable for the $1000 they gave me for it. I have no other money to put towards it, im a poor uni student :'( and theres alot of work involved, organising and stress, i can't get involved in,. I know the damage doesent look bad, but ud b suprised it is. I had another look this morning, and the extractors are ****ed, they have acuatly snaped off, being bent, engine mounts broken, rear subframe is bent on the left, so the whole body will be bent out of shape and the floor is bent in places. The rear tyre in the back took alot of the impact so cushioned the damage i guess. As for me, I still can't lift my head of the bed, or seat, I have to be assisted. Its alright sitting here looking straight at the computer screen in this neck brace, but once i move its extructating. I'm definetly not going to be able to fix it the shell :'( I'm just going to have to find some help somehow in brissy or the goldie to transer all the bits across to another shell that I can find cheap. (Ive already started lookin) Hopefully i find something. Otherwise I'll b selling my bits off it. :'( :'(

i also remember taking my foot of the brake as soon as i felt impact, cos i remember stoping and trying to get out, and my foot was jammed under the acclerator pedal. Ambos said i was shunted a good 20metres from the impact, from where i was turning. I didnt get a chance to look myself, and had other things on my mind. Im just really upset and pissed off. Now im without no car, all this stress, pain, and annoyice of trying to sort this out myself to get myself on the road again. Time i don't have with uni assignments coming out my ears rite now

Make sure you get a doctor's not for Uni too.
You can get extensions on medical grounds.

Yeah, that's right. I got a deferment on medical grounds (bad back) years ago with CSU, took me an extra semester to finish but it was worth it. Take it easy mate, don't push yourself to hard.

I fear the day that this might happen to me... I need to get a set of middle tail lights mounted to my rear windscreen.

Get well soon buddy, the car will get sorted in due time. There are thousands of minis out there if yours can't be fixed.

They should pause your course directly, and refund any money youve paid if you can prove your incapable of doing uni work. Which a car crash can do. It happened to a mate of mine at qut when he came off his bike.

And sad news about the car. If you can find a shell once your better ill give you a hand with swapping the bits over.

You sure are lucky you were sitting in a high-backed seat. In the old lo-backs you could be toast with a broken neck.

i know the smashed mini feeling, however for some reason i was not too worried just lucky to be alive... so should you being hit at 70 km.
good luck mate get well and make sure to get the doctors cert for the uni. you'll get one easy peasy... sh!t i used to rock up and just say i was stressed and bingo, extension.
if i'm free when your swapping parts, i'll give ya a hand (IF THATS WHATS HAPPENING). i'm a pretty good novice.

thanks heaps mate!!! Ive had quite a few people offer to help, and I think I'm going to try and make a day or 2 when everyone can come, and it can be a team effort :) I'll supply food and drinkwinkes, even if you want to crash at my house in brissy theres plenty of space. I'll also make sure I have the full double garage to work on. Theres only one issue, I have no where to hang my engine crane off up in brissy, normally i do that at my parents place on the goldie, so I'll have to work on that part. The rest hopefully should be easy :) I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for all your help guys!! Its really keeping my sprits up

i went and visited the site today, to see how far i was pushed, and we stepped it out and it was 40 of our large steps, so to be on the lower side it was 35 metres I was pushed! From the point of impact where i was parked, and the smashed bits on the road still, to the point where my car was wen the fireys covered it in foam and sore dust! Here are some pics. Where my red 4x4 four wheel drive is parked is where i got pushed to. I also took a pic of a car waiting to turn just like i was and the car going around it avoiding it. Like what my fella should have, but was going way to fast and couldnt see in time. They really should have a turning lane there. Very dangerous, every1 is always having accidents there. Just look at the distance, i was shocked at how far i was shunted, i thought it was 20 metres, but alot more than that. Even with brakes on, no wonder why i can't move my neck or head. Really upsetting this is... :'( Just didn't need this. He was a complete idiot!! Can't drive for nuts obviously!!!

im standing where my car ended up and that car waiting to turn was me. That other car should have been what the other car did, but becuase he was going so fast and obviously not paying attention straight into me. :'( so as you can see i was shunted a long way with brakes.
