Any good mini mechanics around in Perth that charge cheap and do a pretty decent job, as i need to get my mini back on the road soon.

Go see Cono Onofarfo at Minicraft in Bayswater, 47 Irvine Street (93704839).

Highly recommended, and his prices are reasonable. Only problem is he gets a bit busy, so you have to book in early. He does a lot of race minis and stuff as well and stocks a fair bit of parts.

Cheers Ray.

mechanic down there knows what hes talking about.. some of them are a little full of crap when you talk about cost cutting excercises that knock them out of the loop.. theyre happy to help so long as you keep pulling out them dollar notes

fair prices on most stuff.. great place to grab odd bits n peices like gaskets, knuckles and clevis pins as they always have a good repository of stock

but know your prices.. they sell the tempe tyres for 400 bucks more than tempe tyres do (and tempe deliver to your door)

any large items like panels.. sometimes cheaper to get straight from england.. dellorto/weber stuff.. import yourself (half the price they charge)

but as i said before.. general mechanic stuff.. suspension/gaskets/service.. they are fair priced

my two bobs worth
Andrew

I recommend Al Munday
He's in Banjup. phone number's in the whitepages...
08 9414 7186
good prices, good friendly service - most helpful of any of the local mini specialists i've dealt with by a long shot
knows his stuff too... was recommended to me by Lance Stannard who races one of the best of the local Appendix J historic touring cars minis

yeah i know  and I live in Guildford - opposite ends of the earth...

its worth the drive though... more flexible for times too - saturdays sundays evenings whatever - not limited to 'shop hours'

anyway its not as bad as it seems, just get to the kwinana fwy, and its about 10mins south of leach hwy... doesn't take long... i've been there and back from the city in my lunch break (1hr) with time to spare...

Minicraft stocks (some) second hand parts
Also Armadale way there is Just Minis and that stocks second hand parts as well.

Seeing this thread is only Perth people, should we organise a cruise sometime?

Yeh,

A Perth cruise would be pretty neat. Just need to gauge interest I guess?

well i know two perth minis that are up for it..

secondly.. 2G will get you an outside only paint job that you prep.. expect 5G inside and out if they do all the work.. these prices are approximate and is for metalic 2 stage paint (metalic base clearcoat top)

dont cheap out and find someone to do it for 500 bucks (i did this) 4 years later the paint was literally falling off the car and looked crap from day one.. it was shiny and black.. but crap none the less

no i'm not a painter.... just had many quotes and asked lots of questions

I am also in for a cruise. LOL! Once I get my engine rebuilt. Cono is doing it ATM. My new cam has just cleared customs, and hopefully I should get my car back next week, or the week after at the very latest. I've been without it for over a month now. I'm having withdrawls!
